ALEX TRAINS THE TRAINER
These zoom courses 2hrs for 2CPD, 4hrs for 4CPD are running regularly through 2024. They will broaden training objectives to include bettering clients’ performances in the test environment through understanding more accurately about what’s required. Topics include: movement execution, clear definitions, firewalls, minimising losses whilst maximising gains, new tests, new words, the new direction and any other specific questions. The 4hr courses include a number of live RingCraft tests ridden to help put the technical information to practise. Video recordings available in case of bad weather / poor signal. A 20min break between the theory and practical.

2 & 4 CPD POINTS FOR APC
When BHS stage 4 coach Abi Lippett joined the RingCraft Community group back in the summer of 2023, she loved the content and passed on lots of her learnings to her clients. They loved it so much that Abi insisted I taught RingCraft to other coaches around the country. So she approached the BHS herself and got an initial 2 hour format approved for 2 CPD points and we co-hosted our first course in November, there were 6 attendees.
The feedback came in from the course, and 2 more courses became available for January and were sold out within days. So now a new 4hr format has been approved too all via zoom, and there are courses scheduled in the diary weekly through July 2024 when the new BD tests go live.
Now that Alex is based at Checkendon EC in Oxfordshire (an approved BHS training and examination centre), it’s very likely that practical (in person) elements can be added to the format to make them ‘all day’ courses, at some point in the future.
Training trainers to help their clients understand the art of ringcraft will undoubtedly catapult progression far faster than Alex training individual riders. The bar will be raised higher all over the UK. What’s more any conflict of interest risk will then be reduced as fewer individuals will be trained directly by Alex, so in turn, he’ll be out there judging and ground jurying more often and further afield.
